Yoga For Wellness empowers individuals to progress towards enhanced health and wellbeing through application of the teachings and practices of Yoga. The right application of these teachings combined with a consistent Yoga practice increases inner awareness and sparks a shift in the relationship with and identification to a condition that causes suffering, freeing the individual to self-manage the condition.

A typical session begins with stillness and discovering today's optimum breath rhythm to help you reconnect with your inner self and feel grounded. Interoceptive awareness and proper breath-flow promotes balanced and relaxed energy, strengthens you and increases focus. The practice that follows is tailored to fit each person individually. Each day we feel different and so each session is accommodated to how you feel that specific day.
As one diagnosed with a disability called Post Concussion Syndrome I am in the unique position to share from personal experience how Yoga helps me on a daily basis and how it can transform and empower you as well.

Because one person's ideal workout may be someone else's pulled muscle we tailor poses so they are right for your body type, muscle strength, inner disposition and current health status. In short: we start from where you are.
Physically we strengthen what has weakened by re-establishing neuromuscular connectivity. Spiritually we ground and re-connect you with your true self so that you can feel whole again.
Internal and external balance is the first thing to go out the window when we have aches and pains - and the first thing we'll address. Flexibility not needed!
One external way we unwittingly compensate for pain is through posture. For example; our current mobile phone connected society suffers greatly from forward head syndrome, also called Kyphosis.
It seems like nothing, but the whole body is compensating: the abdominals are weakened or turned off, pectoral muscles are tight, the upper traps stretched out or rock hard and the middle traps have decided to let the low back do all the work. Kyphosis leads to back pain, neck pain and ultimately ends in degenerative disc issues.
Kyphosis is not the only postural compensation we make. Looking at the previous image you may perhaps recognize your postural compensation. This "adjustment" may have happened due to a long forgotten accident for which the brain is still signalling: PROTECT! Or perhaps you had a habit of carrying your baby or toddler on one side.
There are many reasons and causes for back pain. On our initial meeting we do a complete evaluation of your current condition. From there we plan a course specific to you.
